A glimpse behind the scenes how we make candles …
Watch this video to catch a glimpse of our candle story – the different stages of candle making at Little Trove. Done at our little workshop in Staffordshire, England.
All candles are made by hand using traditional candle making techniques. We only use natural materials in our candles; natural waxes like soy wax, cotton wicks and even bamboo sticks during the wicking. Our containers are sourced from fair trade producers in India or made in the Potteries (ie. Stoke on Trent) by ceramics makers.
We would like the containers to be part of a sustainable living ethos as well. All our made-in-house candle containers are reusable. Once the candles have burned out, just insert a tealight and re-use the containers. The ceramics containers have the benefit of being dishwasher-friendly, so one pop into the dishwasher and the container comes out squeaky clean. Luckily soy wax is clean burning and leaves a low residue in the container. No hard graft needed to dig the residue out (or as I have heard, freezing in freezer to knock it out!)
The candles are packaged with sustainability in mind too. We use recycled brown cardboard where possible. We also try to minimise packaging and waste.
The finished candles are sent to shops in the UK and abroad and then sold on to customers. If there isn’t a local stockist near you, we would be happy to supply you directly.
