Sometimes, it seems that modern business has forgotten what it means to be fair. In the pursuit of profit, product quality can get degraded, employees devalued and suppliers squeezed. Unfortunately, those suppliers are often in the developing world and can’t afford to be short-changed. So while the richest companies keep getting richer, the World Bank estimates that two billion people still live in abject poverty.
At Little Trove, we don’t think that’s right.
Call us old-fashioned, but we believe in the basic worth and dignity of people. We believe that others don’t exist to make us rich – we exist to enrich others. We believe that business, done fairly, should change the lives of all involved.
We also believe that the poor in developing countries aren’t there by choice, but by
circumstance, and that business, fairly done, can change those circumstances. Decent working conditions, respect and fair trading terms aren’t costs of doing business. They are basic human rights. Wouldn’t you agree?
So we source only from suppliers who are working their way out of poverty, and treat them ethically and with the dignity that is theirs by right. It’s called fair trade. As such, our employees and customers can know they are changing the world.
That’s a lot of beliefs, so here’s one more.
We believe in doing this while giving you the very best products our artisans can make. See here’s the thing: our suppliers want to make amazing products. They want to make products that will make your home look great and you look even better. Great product quality and fair trade shouldn’t be a trade-off.
So come and join the Little Trove movement.
Help us put the fair back into business.
